ÂŁ10,000 for PM's phone number says donor who knows Priti 'like the back of my hand'
Rickie Sehgal, chairman of the British Asian Conservative Link (BACL) and Tory fundraiser, was caught boasting he could arrange one-to-one access to the Prime Minister and supply his personal mobile phone number for ÂŁ10,000, the Mail on Sunday reported.
An undercover reporter posing as a businessman said he hoped to join BACL, however Mr Sehgal mentioned a different group where members pay ÂŁ10,000 or more a year.
Mr Sehgal said: âThe guys who pay ÂŁ10,000 a year, they get David Cameronâs mobile number. You donât need that, trust me, you donât need that. One step at a time.â
When the reporter questioned this: âHang on, hang on, I donât want David Cameronâs mobile number, but those guys who paid ten grand, do they get meetings with him?â Mr Sehgal replied: âYeah.â
He also claimed that he knew all Asian Tory politicians âlike the back of my handâ, including Priti Patel, the MP for Witham, who received help from BACL in her Election campaign.
Mr Sehgal was confronted by Mail on Sunday about his behavior and insisted that it was completely wrong to say that the Prime Ministerâs phone number could be bought.
âIt doesnât happen. I was boasting. There are many other people that we know who would just like to part with money and go and talk to Cameron, whoever it is, and actually that does not exist in reality. I myself donât get to have lunch with Cameron.â
