Three Peaks Jogle blog day ten - epic finish to an epic adventure
Just for a change the day started with the team getting lost. Having studied the map the night before it was decided the best way out of Exeter was ride towards the signs for the hospital (only one on the map) then pick up the signs for St Thomas train station (lots of stations, only one called St Thomas). The confusion came when there was more than one hospital! However, accustomed to finding their way by instinct, they were soon back on the right road and heading into the depths of Dartmoor. Now, Dartmoor isn't known for its flat roads and nice weather, a fact that the team seem to have forgotten when planning the route for the final day.

Three Peaks Jogle blog day nine - nearly there Another early start for the cyclists, setting off from Gloucester at 06:30 this morning, leaving driver Howard and hurty knee man Chick to have a lie in for a while. The driving team caught the guys up at Bristol, they were in good form and had made good time in the morning in spite of spending half an hour getting lost and circling the hotel and the hills they had encountered in the morning. We were scouting for somewhere for breakfast and managed to find a great little cafe in a converted bus. It claims to have the best cream tea you will ever have, but as it was a breakfast stop we were forced into having a full English.

Three Peaks Jogle blog day eight - early starts and headwinds This morning was a shock to everyone, in particular Howard who only arrived last night to be told his first day was to begin at 5am on the dot! Conscious of the threat of strong winds that would probably be blowing straight at us, we decided setting off early would be the best option to give ourselves as long as possible to cover the 130 miles down to Gloucester. Chick, having climbed Snowdon yesterday was in no shape to ride today, his knee having swollen and still giving pain. So the remaining three departed from Dutton and headed south. Howard, being new to towing set off confidently and took no time in making his presence known to the wildlife in the area. BOOM, the pigeon stood no chance as it collided with the windscreen, although Howard claims he never saw it and said 'oh god, I feel awful now!' you could tell that he meant business. Obviously the message got out as we barely saw any more wildlife for the whole day!

Three Peaks Jogle blog day seven - Snowdon claims victim Today was a relative rest day for us with just the small matter of scaling Snowdon to complete today. Making the most of this we met for breakfast at 09:30, a real lie in! We filled our faces at the all you can eat buffet before we thought we would check over the bikes and the car/trailer. After a few running repairs we were all set to see Dick Off to get his train. Sparks was tasked to get him to the station and we waved them away. 2 minutes later they drove back past us, having got lost in the car park with only one road in and out, we finally waved them off. Chick, Josh and Billy headed for tea in the bar and talked about the previous days and the days yet to come, all agreeing that it was a difficult task, there were tough days to come, and chick had been extremely unlucky in getting injured! With the return of Sparks we all set off through North Wales passing castles, rivers and pretty villages on the way. There was a beautiful stone cottage called the ugly house on the way to Betws-y-coed before we reached the Llanberis pass and the start point of our chosen route along the miner’s path.

Three Peaks Jogle blog day six - a tough day for everyone Well today was difficult for everyone on the ride, including Dick the driver! An early start to load the trailer before breakfast was a shock for some, at least for Chick, who after a late night getting the blog post ready couldn't believe it was time to get up when he woke to see Billy and Josh were stood in the room in their boxers! Bill's shoes had melted on a previous drying experience so he had to tape them up with duct tape, they looked great! Shiny silver shoes are the way forward. So the trailer was loaded, just for a change in the rain, and breakfast was enjoyed by all before we set off on the drive to the starting points.
